Preschool Programs
Programs to enrich a child’s understanding of science and behavior through education & interaction with animals.
Children are fascinated by animals and display a deep passion for animal welfare and well-being at an early age. The HousePaws Vets in Training Program embraces the human-animal bond through interaction and education. By providing hands-on experience-based education to each student in the program, the children are empowered to explore the natural world and the many facets of veterinary medicine.
Through our program, children will develop important strengths which are our core values, and learn practical life skills such as nutrition, helping, kindness, respect and more. The hands-on, collaborative format of much of our programming helps students engage directly with the subject matter and develops skills in teamwork and self-confidence.
Below are some of the classes that we can bring to your preschool. Don’t see a class you need to meet your monthly theme – just ask! With our extensive course catalog, we are sure to meet your needs!
Teddy Bear Clinic:
Who doesn’t like playing doctor? Each student will bring their own teddy bear as we learn how to give a physical exam and take care of common ailments. Children will learn bandaging as well as use some common veterinary tools.
Gentle Animal Handling:
Kids are excited to see animals but that excitement quickly turns into focus when they have the opportunity to actually touch and hold small creatures. The Vets in Training team is trained to create a calm learning environment and teach your young students how to properly interact with animals.
Ticks, Tweezers, and Prickly Things:
As veterinarians, we remove all kinds of things from patients. Veterinarians must learn to remove ticks, bot flies, and even prickly plants from their patients’ fur and skin. VIT students will learn to use their removal skills on simulated patients during this super fun and interactive lab class!
